Mthuli Ncube appoints new ZIMRA board

Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube today announced a new board for the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority chaired by businessman and former Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries president Callisto Jokonya.

He will be deputised by Josephine Matambo, the tax director at PKF Chartered Accountants. She has more than 30 years’ experience in the tax sector.

Other board members are the permanent secretary for Finance Georg Guvamatanga, Isaac Kwesu, Memory Nguwi and Moris Bekezela Mpofu.

Ncube suspended the ZIMRA board which was chaired by Willia Bonyongwe in October and ordered its management to report directly to treasury.

He also asked the organisation to stop all recruitment until the new board was in place.

ZIMRA is the country’s major source of revenue as Zimbabwe currently is cut off from international finance until it clears its arrears with the World Bank and the African Development Bank.

The Finance Minister plans to clear the arrears next year.
