Mozambique-Zimbabwe fuel pipeline re-opens

The Mozambique-Zimbabwe pipeline which was shut down on 15 March as a precautionary measure following Cyclone Idai was re-opened last night way ahead of schedule.

It had been anticipated that the fuel pipeline which transports 90 percent of Zimbabwe’s fuel would re-open on 8 April at the latest.

Zimbabwe had advised its citizens that it had enough fuel until 8 April but queues had started at service stations as the government has promised its citizens since October that it has enough fuel yet service stations have run dry several times.

The Ministry of Information this evening said pumping from Beira resumed last night while the jetty started receiving vessels today.
