Information Minister Jonathan Moyo today ordered an audit of the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation and sent the ZBC’s general manager for finance Retired Brigadier-General Elliot Kasu on paid leave to facilitate the audit. Moyo fired the ZBC board on Thursday and sent chief executive officer Happison Muchechetere on paid leave for failing to come up with a plan to revive the ailing corporation. Acting permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information Ivanhoe Gurira said the ministry had requested the Comptroller and Auditor-General to undertake an urgent comprehensive and forensic audit of ZBC. The audit would include determining the true financial position of the ZBC, forensic audit of all financial transactions by the corporation to determine prejudice or benefit to ZBC, staff complement and remuneration, equipment and assets.
