Mnangagwa wishes Trump speedy recovery after he tests positive for coronavirus

Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa has wished United States President Donald Trump a speedy recovery after Trump announced that he and the First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for coronavirus.

Trump tweeted: “Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately.”

In his message, Mnangagwa said: “My best wishes to President Trump  @realdonaldtrump  and the First Lady @FLOTUS as they make a full recovery from COVID-19.”

The United States has the highest number of coronavirus cases in the world, currently at 7.5million cases. Some 4.7 million people have recovered but there are still 2.5 million active cases.

Globally there are 34.5 million cases.

So far 1.03 million people have died of the virus and more than 212 700 of them are from the United States.

Zimbabwe has only 7 850 cases and 228 deaths.

Some of Mnangagwa’s twitter followers, however, did not take kindly to Mnangagwa’s message saying he does not send similar messages when children die at the country’s hospitals.

One even tweeted: “Come fetch your people from South Africa… we’re tired of their loitering & parasitic ways. Donald Trump’s administration is doing its best to take care of its citizens!  Do the same madala Mnangagwa!”
