This was said by the head of the ZACC Investigations Committee Goodson Nguni who said his organization was going to set up a special team to investigate people and companies that have been sabotaging the economy.
He said a lot of companies were not paying tax and this was fraud. The special committee would look at these companies’ books and bring them to book.
ZACC was also going to look into banks and retail outlets that were not banking cash.
“We would like to make sure that those who receive cash, bank it so that it can circulate,” he said.
At the moment, he said managers of some supermarkets were taking cash and using it for personal benefit.
Nguni said ZACC was also going to look into all the major investments made by the National Social Security Authority over the past five to 10 years including the money put into Joina City and the loan given to Rennaisance Bank.
It was also going to look at what happened to the money loaned to Interfin by Afreximbank and $20 million that Kingdom bank allegedly gave to one of its executives.
Nguni said ZACC had a new impetus because it was getting full support from Mnangagwa’s government.
The previous government did not support it fully and did not even provide the commission with offices.
