Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday said there was no split in the party. Those who have allegedly “split” from the party to form ZANU-People First were expelled from the party. "ZANU-PF is a revolutionary party. If you do not toe the party line you get fired. I want to make it very clear today that there is no split in ZANU-PF, but there are some people who were fired. People like Runaida (Joice Mujuru), Didymus and Rugare, they did not leave the party, but they were fired. In ZANU-PF, people get fired one by one. Runaida akadzingwa, Didymus akadzingwa, but they lie that there is now a split in ZANU-PF. That is not true. The truth is that they were fired." Mnangagwa likened the noise being made by those expelled from ZANU-PF, especially former Secretary for Administration Didymus Mutasa, to dogs barking at an elephant. “Kwedu kuMidlands kune nzou,” he told the people of Masvingo. “Kana nzou ichipfuura napamba pavaHungwe, tumbwa twava Hungwe tunohukura, tugohukura, tugohukura, nzou ichingofamba zvayo. Didymus achahukura, agohukura, ZANU ichingoinda mberi.”
