Mnangagwa says he is determined to rebuild Zimbabwe and will not be swayed by his detractors

President Emmerson Mnangagwa today said his government is determined to rebuild Zimbabwe and will be not be swayed by any detractors.

Addressing members of the Zion Christian Church at their administrative headquarters at Mbungo, in Masvingo, Mnangagwa also reiterated  that he will continue to preach peace, harmony, unity and togetherness because that is crucial for the country’s development.

Mnangagwa who was accompanied by his deputy Constantino Chiwenga and Masvingo Provincial Affairs Minister Josiah Hungwe said just as Christians were waiting for Christ to resurrect tomorrow and have a new beginning, Zimbabwe was also having a new start under the new dispensation.

He said he was aware that there were detractors but these would not stop his administration from rebuilding the country because God was with them and they were a God-fearing leadership.

The President quoted from Nehemiah 2 vs 17-18 which reads: “Then I said to them, ‘You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.’ I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me. They replied, ‘Let us start rebuilding.’ So they began this good work.”

Continuing on vs19, it says: “But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official and Geshem the Arab heard about it, they mocked and ridiculed us. ‘What is this you are doing?’ they asked. ‘Are you rebelling against the king?’”

“I answered them by saying, ‘The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding, but as for you, you have no share in Jerusalem or any claim or historic right to it.”

Mnangagwa said he was determined to improve the lot of Zimbabweans and quoted James 2 which says faith if not accompanied by action is dead.

“What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds?” the Bible says.

“Can such faith save them?  Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.  If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?  In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

Mnangagwa said he was supposed to attend the ZCC function tomorrow after Christ has arisen but had to push the trip forward because he is travelling to China.

Zimbabwe signed multi-billion dollar deals with China but they have been on hold since, except for the Kariba South hydro-power expansion which he commissioned on Thursday.

China has been an all-weather friend of Zimbabwe and there is great expectation that it can bail out Mnangagwa and give him the fillip to win the coming elections and turn around the country’s fortunes.
