Mnangagwa says don’t pay attention to Jonathan Moyo

Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called on Zimbabweans not to pay attention to critics of the Command Agriculture programme because critics will always be around but they should instead inspire people to work even harder.

In remarks that seemed to be aimed at Higher Education Minister Jonathan Moyo, Mnangagwa said: “Hongu kune vamwe vanenge vachikritisaiza zviya izvi, don’t worry. Mukasa kritisaizwa hamungagoni. Munokritisaizwa ndokuti mushande nesimba. Toramba tichingoenda, tichirima, vanotaura vachidini havo . . . vachitaura. Musanetsekane nazvo. Handei, handei ngatirimei, munyika ndeyedu. Tonamata kuna Jehovah kuti vatipe mvura.”

He said critics could say what they wanted but the yields told their own story.

“Musatambura nezvinonyorwa mumapepa, mapepa anotsvaga mari kuti mutenge. Hee zvadai zvadai . . . Tarirai kuti chibagwe chacho hachimo here chero mapepa anyora. Chinenge chichingovamo mumunda macho.

“Chero mukadini mupepa, chibagwe chacho chinongokura chichingokura, chigokohwewa, chigouya kuGMB vachingotaura. Tarirai chibagwe chiri mumunda musatarira chiri mupepa,” he was quoted by The Herald as saying.

Mnangagwa said while Jonathan Moyo had rubbished Command Agriculture as Command Ugly-Culture, President Robert Mugabe had hailed the programme as Beautiful Culture.

“Ikozvino President varikufara zvekuti heki. Kune vakati Command Ugly-Culture, President vakati Beautiful culture. Saka handei mberi tiite zvinhu zvinotibatsira semhuri imwechete yeZimbabwe,” he said.

Moyo has been under attack from several quarters over his criticism of Command Agriculture.

Defence Forces Chief Constantine Chiwenga last week blasted Moyo for “vomiting nonsense”.

War veterans leader Christopher Mutsvangwa said Moyo should be expelled from the party for his insubordination.

The Insider has since learnt that Moyo was “brought back” to ZANU-PF by President Mugabe. This was facilitated by Didymus Mutasa who was the party’s secretary of administration at the time.

Moyo tweeted this himself in October last year.
