He said the session will be conducted at State House and will be broadcast live on television and social media between 10 am and 12 noon.
“I invite the whole nation to join me and church leaders from various denominations, via live broadcast on ZBC and social media streams, for a church service which I will host at State House,” Mnangagwa said.
“Let us offer prayers of petition to the Lord that he may grant us His mercy to deliver us from this noisome pestilence and give us the wisdom to take the effective steps to overcome it.
“I also urge you all on this day, to join us by giving up one, two or all meals in fasting. It will be best to arrange to participate in this service as families, small groups, or church services not exceeding fifty people, and observing the precautions we have been making to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.”
Mnangagwa, who cited 2 Chronicles 7 vs. 13-15 as the theme, emphasized that while the nation was seeking God’s mercy, wisdom, help and healing to overcome the deadly pandemic, people must diligently continue to observe every precaution necessary to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The number of coronavirus cases reached 320 yesterday, but 49 have so far recovered and four have died.
Globally, there are now 7.5 million cases with just over 419 000 deaths.
The United States has more than 115 000 deaths.
