Mnangagwa gets his cholera vaccination

President Emmerson Mnangagwa today got his cholera vaccination and urged people in the high density areas to get vaccinated.

Cholera, which broke out in Harare last month, has so far killed more than 50 people with the latest deaths being reported in Buhera.

Its epicenter was Budiriro and Glen View.

“There is no bad time to get your cholera vaccine, even during a cabinet meeting!” the President tweeted, soon after his vaccination.

“We have embarked on a vaccination drive to help protect our communities from this disease, & we encourage those in high density areas to get vaccinated.

“Let’s work together towards a healthy Zimbabwe.”

The World Health Organisation said it planned to see 1.4 million people vaccinated against cholera.

Those vaccinated would be required to have two doses, one now and another after six months.

This would provide them with at least three years protection.

The last major cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe was in 2008.

More than 4 000 people died and almost 100 000 were affected.
