Former Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front Harare province chairman Amos Midzi was found dead at his farm outside Harare this morning. His death is already shrouded in controversy with The Herald saying he is suspected to have committed suicide while independent and online reports claim that foul play is suspected. Midzi is a former ambassador and Minister of Mines but he fell out of favour in the ruling party last year in the run-up to the party congress when he was accused of fanning factionalism. Midzi was reportedly one of the top supporters of former Vice-President Joice Mujuru. He was slapped with a five-year suspension from the party last month.
