The executive of the Movement for Democratic Change-Tsvangirai Youth Assembly today said President Robert Mugabe cannot continue to be the face of a nation because he cannot bring anything new. His place can only be in an old people’s home.
Mugabe has been under pressure not just from the opposition and civic activists who are calling on him to step down but has been denounced by his own war veterans who have labeled him a dictator who no longer has the interests of the people at heart.
Several senior government officials have rubbished the statement by the war veterans claiming it is the work of rogue elements and Fifth columnists.
The MDC-T youths said Mugabe managed to rig the 2013 elections which he won by an overwhelming majority but he cannot rig the economy or their minds not to see how his government has failed.
“We reiterate our call for Robert Mugabe to leave office as he has become tired, clueless and old and can only sleep in meetings instead of steering the ship forward,” the youths said.
“We are more than convinced that no-matter what, a 92 year old can never be a face of a nation, he cannot bring anything new and his place can only be in an old people’s home.
“There is no investment that will come to this country as long as Mugabe remains in charge and for the benefit of many of us who still want to work, we want and demand that Mugabe goes.”
The youths dismissed the cheap politicking by Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front youths who have been dishing out land to ZANU-PF youths.
“We note that the abuse of state resources has continued especially under the ambitious Kasukuwere who plundered money in the Youth ministry and is now taking his insatiable appetite to the land grab. This land belongs to all of us. We surely will one day make these people account,” the MDC-T youths said.
