The Movement for Democratic Change which has been spearheading the demonstrations organised by the 18-opposition-party National Electoral Reform Agenda says the march that was penciled for tomorrow has been postponed to 16 September.
The party did not give any reasons in its one sentence statement issued this evening.
The postponement follows the failure of a national shut-down called by social media activists yesterday.
Some of those interviewed yesterday said the demonstrations had flopped because of intimidation by the police who fired teargas on protesters last Friday.
Leaders of the key opposition parties, Morgan Tsvangirai of the MDC-T and Joice Mujuru of the Zimbabwe People First, last week fled from the demonstrations when police fired teargas at the protesters.
There are now calls that political leaders must lead the demonstrations from the front instead of leaving protesters on their own.
