Social media activist Evan Mawarire was denied bail when he appeared in court today. His lawyer Harrison Nkomo said he will apply for bail at the high court on Monday. Mawarire is facing charges arising from his social media càlls on Zimbaweans to press the government to be accountable. The most serious charge that of subverting the government carries a 20-year jail term.
