Marry Chiwenga wins first battle in divorce case but Chiwenga appeals

Marry Chiwenga, who is currently embroiled in a bitter divorce case with her husband Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, today won custody of their children and access to their Borrowdale home.

In a judgment released by the High Court today, Justice Dube-Banda said Marry should also have access to Orchid Gardens in Domboshawa and as well as to three vehicles- a Toyota Lexus, a Mercedes Benz S40 and a Mercedes Benz E350.

The judge said Marry should also have access to her clothes.

He ordered the Vice-President to pay costs of the suit.

Vice-President Chiwenga also today appealed against the  entire judgment.

Marry was arrested on charges of fraud, money laundering, externalisation and attempted murder last year and is out on custody.

She said the charges were fabricated to force her hand in the divorce case.

Vice-President Chiwenga tried to get the divorce settled out of court, but Marry refused.

She has so far asked for maintenance for her and the children which exposed how wealthy the Vice-President is, raising questions as to how he acquired that wealth.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is reportedly asking that all government leaders declare their assets, a directive he issued when he came to office but was never followed up.
