Malema not invited to ZANU-PF congress

Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema, a strong admirer of Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front policies on empowerment, has not been invited to the party congress due this week according to reports from South Africa.

City Press said today Malema had not been invited to the ZANU-PF congress because the party does not recognise the EFF. It only works with the African National Congress which will be attending the congress.

“ZANU-PF is a revolutionary party, and all revolutionary movements of southern Africa operate as one, because they are all sister parties. Our revolutionary party that is in South Africa is only the ANC,” a ZANU-PF official identified as Mpehlabayo Malinga  was quoted as saying.

“Malema used to come and visit – actually he came to visit the president [Robert Mugabe] only once [in 2010] … and it happened as a consequence of him being the president of the ANC Youth League. As such, when he left the ANC, that was the last time that he made contact with our party structures.”

Malema’s EFF has been calling for the nationalisation of South African mines as well as the confiscation of land, Zimbabwe-style, without compensation.

During his election campaign which saw the EFF rise to become the third largest party in South Africa, Malema said: “We are going to take charge of our own lives like the Zimbabweans have done. You can say whatever you want to say about Zimbabweans. In the next 10 years they will be the only Africans in the whole of Africa who own their country because, why, they were ready to take the pain. Revolution is about pain. Revolution is change and change is painful. We are ready for that pain. We need that pain.”
