Magaya presses for trial date

Prophetic Healing and Deliverance leader Walter Magaya who is facing rape charges is pressing for a trial date with his lawyers arguing that it is like the State is punishing him by remanding him without setting a trial date.

“His rights are not being considered. It is like they are punishing him,” one of his lawyers Admire Rubaya said after Magaya was remanded to 21 October.

Magistrate Bianca Makwande ordered the State to provide Magaya with a trial date on the next remand appearance.

Magaya is accused of raping a 25-year-old woman last year but the case only surfaced this year.
