Mabhawa nokurambana in Parliament

Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front Makoni South legislator Mandi Chimene now seems to have become the clown of the lower house.

Yesterday she was forced into an altercation with Movement for Democratic Change legislator for Harare Central Murisi Zwizwai when Zwizwai said she had not been in the house when Speaker Jacob Mudenda made a ruling after Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa sought leave to bring back the mid-term fiscal policy statement for debate. “Wanga uri kubhawa”.

Chimene responded that she was also a hooligan and did not entertain his statement. When Zwizwai complained it was unparliamentary for Chimene to call herself a hooligan, she responded “nokuti ndakakuramba”.

Mudenda ordered both Zwizwai and Chimene to withdraw their statements but Chimene responded: “Mr. Speaker Sir, I withdraw asi zvekumuramba ichokwadi.”

Last week, Chimene caused a stir when she broke into song: “kusiya amai nababa vachichema taenda, kana neniwo zvandinetsa amai, zvandinetsa vakomana” to which MDC members responded: “ZANU yaora baba, mahure. ZANU yaora baba, mahure”.

MS. CHIMENE: Mr. Speaker Sir, when the motion was brought before this House by the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, all hon. members from either side, were attentive. They could have raised a point of order but there was no point of order raised during the presentation of this Statement [HON. ZWIZWAI: There was a ruling made by Mr. Speaker and you were not in the House, wanga uri kubhawa.]
I would want the hon. member Zwizwai to know that I am also a hooligan, so, Hon. Zwizwai is a hooligan, I do not entertain that, he should not do that in this House; he should stand up and raise a point of order. He must know that we are going to divide the House. We will divide the House.
