Thokozani Khupe’s Movement for Democratic Change which is holding its congress this weekend says it will limit the term of party president to two terms of five years each.
One of the leaders, Obert Gutu, who was party spokesman in the MDC-T led by Morgan Tsvangirai and was fired together with Khupe and Abednigo Bhebhe says the term of vice-president will also be limited to two five-year terms.
Khupe was vice-president of MDC-T from 2006.
Tsvangirai was president of the party from 2000 until his death on14 February this year.
Although two factions are now clamouring for the name with the faction led by Nelson Chamisa claiming it is their brand and want the Khupe faction stopped from using the name, Gutu said his faction remains the MDC-T and this is perfectly legitimate and constitutional.
The case in which the two are battling for the name will be heard on Tuesday while the congress is set for 21 April.
