Kenyan President congratulates Mugabe

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, who also won a controversial election this year, has congratulated Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe on his re-election.

Kenyatta won the election beating Raila Odinga, who had been Prime Minister since the controversial elections of 2007 and was the favourite of the West.

Odinga had also become friends with Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai who was Zimbabwe’s Prime Minister.

Kenyatta is still to face charges at The Hague for the crimes against humanity in the violence that erupted after the 2007 elections.

Mugabe cannot be hauled before The Hague because Zimbabwe is not a signatory of the Rome Statute.
