Kasukuwere stamps his foot to restore order in ZANU-PF

Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front national commissar Saviour Kasukuwere has stamped his foot and nullified the suspension of five party members by the Matabeleland North Provincial Executive Council. He said he will be visiting provinces starting with Mashonaland East this weekend to buttress the fact that no suspensions will be entertained. “The days of solo decisions are over and we won’t sleep and watch the revolutionary party provincial executives becoming a laughing stock,” he was quoted by The Chronicle as saying. “What this means is that no changes will be entertained without the approval and sanctioning of the politburo. We want to avoid confusion and disturbances in the provinces and any structures of the party….We’ve noted that there is indiscipline taking place in the provinces after congress and that needs to be addressed. We will also look at the party structures.”  Kasukuwere himself has been accused mainly by the private media of belonging to a “gang of four” that is against the promotion of Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko to vice-president but he rubbished this as gutter journalism aimed at promoting divisions within ZANU-PF. Kasukuwere, whose colleagues were said to be  Jonathan Moyo, Oppah Muchinguri and Patrick Zhuwao, said the allegations were being made by the same quotas that backed former Vice-President Joice Mujuru in the run-up to congress and now claim that 100 Members of Parliament back her.
