Kasukuwere discharged

Saviour Kasukuwere, who was charged with illegally leaving the country during Operation Restore Legacy, was today acquitted with Harare magistrate Josephine Sande saying he did the reasonable thing to save his life.

Kasukuwere left the country in November last year and returned after six months.

He was one of the three most wanted former G40 members who were fighting to bar  then Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa from succeeding President Robert Mugabe preferring his wife, Grace, instead.

Kasukuwere was, however, let through after some questioning at the airport and was later charged with the minor offence of leaving the country illegally.

Kasukuwere is accused of selling out and is reportedly working with Mnangagwa’s administration though some reports say he wants to take over leadership of the National Patriotic Front which is allegedly funded by former First Lady Grace Mugabe.

The NPF split last week after its leader Ambrose Mutinhiri was fired though spokesman Jealousy Mawarire says he was re-assigned.

Mutinhiri in turn dismissed Mawarire and his group which included Eunice Sandi Moyo.
