Jonathan Moyo to appear in court today!

Higher Education Minister Jonathan Moyo, his deputy Godfrey Gandawa, the chief executive of the Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund Frederick Mandizvidza and ZIMDEF principal director for finance Nicholas Mapute are expected to appear in court today over allegations that they could have siphoned more than $400 000 from the government agency which was created to finance the development of critical and highly skilled manpower in the country.

Moyo handed himself over to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday and was released in the custody of his lawyer Terrence Hussein.

Advocate Lewis Uriri who was instructed by Hussein said Moyo was questioned and subsequently arrested and charged.

“The constitutional requirements were complied with. The charges were put to him. He deposed a warned and cautioned statement and thereafter a request was made that he be released to his lawyers and we duly executed an indemnity. As regards when he appears in court that is entirely the discretion of the police,” Uriri told The Herald.
