Jim Kunaka exposes Commissioner Charity Manyeruke as a senior ZANU-PF official

Former Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front youth leader Jim Kunaka today said he was surprised that Charity Manyeruke was a member of the Commission of Inquiry into the violence of 1 August because she is a senior member of the party and was actually his boss who gave him orders to commit violence against members of the opposition.

He was just her foot soldier.

Kunaka said he was therefore not going to answer any questions from Manyeruke.

He said he was not a member of the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance but was the political commissar of the National Patriotic Front.

He was previously a youth provincial chairman for Harare but left the party after the military-takeover as he was a member of the G40 faction.

Kunaka said Manyeruke was a senior member of ZANU-PF and attended planning meetings of the party to unleash violence on the opposition.

He said the commission chaired by former South African President Kgalema Motlanthe was a joke as there were more serious issues that needed to be investigated.

Manyeruke told the commission that she wanted to set the record straight. She had never attended any meeting with Kunaka.

She, however, could not proceed after the people in the gallery started shouting drowning her out.
