It’s Mnangagwa for  vice-president

President Robert Mugabe has finally ended speculation about who is going to succeed him but more specifically that it is not his wife, Grace. He has named Justice Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa and former ambassador Phelekezela Mphoko as his deputies and they will be sworn in as the country’s vice-presidents on Friday.  There had been wide speculation that Mugabe was lining up his wife for the senior post. Observers believe that Mnangagwa, once known as the “Son of God” because he was viewed as the heir apparent way back in the 1980s, is likely to pursue the ZANU-PF policies that Mugabe implemented.  Mphoko is also known as an action man, making the two potential change makers for Zimbabwe. Though Mnangagwa has been viewed as someone who is loathed by the West, he has good business connections, and is highly regarded by the West because, like his benefactor, he is a man of principle who is not easily swayed by public opinion, but rather adheres to party policy.
