The Insider has now published 48 Wikileaks cables on Zimbabwe in full. So far 79 cables which mention Zimbabwe, some just in passing, have been published and The Insider is making every effort to publish all of them in full.

Zimbabwe has the third largest number of cables in Africa after Sudan and Nigeria. There are 2 998 cables on Zimbabwe out of o total of 251 287 cables. There are 2 998 cables on Zimbabwe. Sudan has 3 078 and Nigeria 3 025.

The last cable on Zimbabwe was released on 14 March.

There has been a slowdown in the release of cables about Zimbabwe following a backlash after one of the cables which said Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai had been meeting Western diplomats secretly after the formation of the inclusive government and advocating that they maintain sanctions on Zimbabwe.

Some members of the Western media felt that this could be detrimental for Tsvangirai as he could be charged with treason. Attorney-General Johannes Tomana said his office might investigate the issue.
