More than 400 mining companies have applied for concessions to mine Zimbabwe’s diamonds, Mines Minister Obert Mpofu said today. Zimbabwe is still mired in controversy over its Marange diamonds with some members of the Kimberley Process saying these diamonds must not be sold on the open market because of human rights abuses.
