Has Chamisa’s spokesman gone bonkers?

Several twitter followers of Movement for Democratic Change leader Nelson Chamisa’s spokesman Nkululeko Sibanda have expressed disgust at his celebrating the removal of a tweet promoting the Victoria Falls by American television celebrity Steve Harvey who is reported to have sneaked into the country with his wife and posted a video of the magnificent falls on his handle.

Ironically, while Sibanda was celebrating, a British newspaper launched its 2019 travel competition which offers a £35 000 package to a couple to visit South Africa and Zimbabwe with three nights at the Victoria Falls.

American singer Anita Baker, in response to Harvey’s tweet, said she could not wait to see the magnificent falls.

“Victoria Falls, y’all. Can’t wait to 2C this. One of the 7 Wonders, of The World. MAGNIFICENT!!,” she tweeted.

Sibanda responded: “Please bring your own fuel reserves, prices will change overnight- so inflate your budget by 20% cumulatively and daily. Also you be careful to be viewed as a political threat by @edmnangagwa stay in specific areas.”

After the Steve Harvey tweet was removed, Sibanda celebrated: “He is just making his money, I agree with you. Just got excited, the ZANU PF consultants in the US, got Steve Harvey @IAmSteveHarvey to tweet about @edmnangagwa, we got to him and he quickly deleted the post. They are failing, that is how bad they are. They are losing fast!”

There was, however, a barrage of attacks on Sibanda with Bongani Prynce Madlala simply saying : “Uyaloya sibili” which means you really are a witch (wizard).

LeRue said: “Please let’s not shoot ourselves in the foot. A tourist coming to Zimbabwe should not have anything to do with politics.”

Sibanda replied: “One visitor with a bad experience is a decades of loss to the country.”

ZANDATOTO  tweeted: “Now this is childish”, and Peter Makiwa agreed: “I agree with you Zand.  No need for that Dr Sibanda. Seriously.”

Sibanda responded: “What we don’t need is the murder of Zimbabweans.”

This seemed to have opened the floodgates with Gerald Maguranyanga saying: “You’re surely descending into a declared enemy of Zimbabwe. Pasi newe!”

Admire Taguma added: “Did @steveharvey complain of all this? He seemed to have had a nice time. He had postives from his trip but alas u had to come in with your perennial negativity. Hate Zanu pf but at least love your country. No wonder u support sanctions.”

Magwadla said: “Seriously consider counseling, you are on a slippery slope Dr Nku. So dirty and toxic, you are full of anger and bitterness; so much hate and desperation. Surely politics can be cleaner than this.”

Chenai Ratisai added:  “This coming from a whole doctor? For shame… I guess this is what self hate sounds like. Tsk, tsk, tsk…”

Dee Vin said: “You are giving ZanuPf good points to decampaign your party in Victoria Falls for the next election! You discourage tourist to visit an MDC led town! Pathetic.”

Bevan Musoko added: “You are not only unpatriotic, but foolish as well. You think by decampaining Zim as a tourist destination you are fixing @ZANUPF_Official. No. You are exposing yourself as an enemy of Zim progress. Voters dont forget.”

Meanwhile a British newspaper, The Telegraph has launched its 2019 travel awards which include a package to South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The competition which has 15 prizes, closes on 6 October and the winners will be announced on 28 October.

The Southern African prize is an eight-night luxury safari in South Africa and Zimbabwe with Scott Dunn worth £35 000.

The prize includes bed and breakfast for 2 nights at The Twelve Apostles, 3 nights full board at Bushman’s Kloof, 3 nights full board at Matetsi Victoria Falls in a Matetsi River Lodge Suite.
