Harare magistrate says Kasukuwere has a case to answer

Harare magistrate Josephine Sande today said former Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front national commissar Saviour Kasukuwere who was one of the kingpins of the G40 faction had a case to answer for skipping the country soon after the military intervention in November last year.

Kasukuwere who went into exile and returned after six months had argued that he had no case to answer as he skipped the country because his life was in danger.

To illustrate this he asked the court to inspect his home and they found 113 used cartridges which were allegedly collected after the shooting.

Sande said since Kasukuwere could not identify his attackers, he could have been attacked by robbers and should have reported the matter to the police rather than leave the country illegally.

Judgment is expected tomorrow.
