Harare East Member of Parliament threatens to kill fellow ZANU-PF MP

Harare East Member of Parliament terrene Mukupe was yesterday kicked out of the House after fellow Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front Member of Parliament for Marondera Central Lawrence Katsiru complained that Mukupe had threatened to kill him.

He did not say why Mukupe had made the threat.

Acting Speaker Reuben Marumahoko ordered an investigation into the matter but threw out Mukupe because it was unparliamentary to threaten a fellow legislator.

Katsiru said Mukupe was a  “small boy” so if he really wanted a fight, he should confront him outside the House.

The threat disrupted the debate on the issuing of an African passport while Buhera West legislator Oliver Mandipaka was making his contribution.

The report on the Pan African Parliament’s role in promoting free movement of the people was moved by Chirumhanzu-Zibagwe legislator Auxillia Mnangagwa.

The free movement involves the issuing of e-passports and the abolition of visas for all African citizens in all African countries by next year..
