Grace says she is now Mafirakureva, 60-horsepower

First Lady Grace Mugabe became known as “Stop-it”, when she garnered for then Vice-President, Joice Mujuru., in the run-up to the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front congress last year.

The aim was to stop Mujuru from toppling her husband. She won. Mujuru was kicked out of the party and is now reportedly behind a political outfit going by the name of People First.

Now, Grace says, she is also known as Mafirakureva and 60 horsepower. She will not mince her words, especially when it comes to phony war veterans who were thieves and cannot even shoot a gun.

“I am not going to be gagged or silenced,” she told a rally in Mbare yesterday. “There are some war veterans who are doing silly things in ZANU-PF and we say down with them. We have genuine war veterans, but someone wants to boast that he fought the war. Where was that?  Unofunga kuti hatizvizivi kuti waiba mbatya dzevanhu kuhondo? Mukaona vanoita noise, ukamupa pfuti kuti ikoke undipfure anozvipfura iye.”

The First Lady reiterated that she had no presidential ambitions. She was happy being Mugabe’s wife and leader of the Women’s league.

“I am standing here as the wife of your President and as someone whom you chose to lead the women. Ndobva ndagumira ipapo, full stop nga! Handina chimwe chandiri kuda ini.

“I was nominated by women to work and I will work for them. I call myself a 60 horse power,” she added.

Grace Mugabe has been linked to a faction that is trying to thwart Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa from succeeding Mugabe.
