First Lady Grace Mugabe yesterday urged children to be serious with their education saying they should stop seducing men because education should be their first husband.
“Vana hamusisina matyira kuzvikoro uko,” she said implying that children no longer had taboos at schools. “First things first, your first husband should be your education.”
Grace was speaking at the launch of the African Union campaign to end child marriages.
According to The Herald, the First Lady did not spare the men that abused the vulnerable young girls, either. She said they should be castrated.
“Handina kana basa nazvo, ndinoti ngavadimurwe nekuti zvinorwadza,” she said. “Kana usati wazviitirwa haunzwe kurwadza kwazvo, zvikange zvakuitikira mumba mako ndipo paunonzwa kurwadza kwazvo, zvekuti unotoritora bhemba kuti uende unodimura munhu.”
(I don’t care. I am saying they must be castrated because it is painful. If the abuse has not happened in your household yet you do not feel the pain. But when it happens in your household, you feel the pinch and you will be the first to pick up a machete and castrate the culprit.)
The First Lady said she was advocating such drastic action being child abusers were getting away with very light sentences from the courts including community service.
