God Hears The Cry Of The Oppressed- full document

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Zimbabwe released a pastoral letter entitled “God Hears The Cry Of The Oppressed” in 2007. The letter blamed the suffering of the Zimbabwean people on a small black elite which replaced a small while elite and has perpetuated colonial-like misrule.

President Robert Mugabe described the letter as “political nonsense” and accused the bishops of embarking on a “dangerous path.”

Local government Minister Ignatius Chombo called the letter “hateful, unfair, inaccurate, too general, malicious, insidious and, to some extent, diabolic.”

For the record here is the letter.
