God and Border Gezi

On screen and during the campaign, ZANU-PF political commissar, Border Gezi, is portrayed as someone who will not let anything stand in the way to secure victory for the ruling party. He was at the forefront of the farm invasions and the ZANU-PF campaign that saw Mashonaland Central sweep all the seats in the parliamentary elections last year.

And he is now spearheading all campaigns. But apparently he is God-fearing, or at least he pretends to be.

During one of his campaign tours he unashamedly admitted that things in the country were so bad that only divine intervention could save the nation. He told a church gathering that politicians as worldly leaders did not have the powers to seek this divine intervention from God, but church leaders could do so.

This was a public show of humility as he was leader of a delegation which included another politburo member, a senior cabinet minister and a provincial governor. Or was it just part of the campaign?
