French companies interested in partnering Harare City Council

French companies have expressed interest to partner Harare City Council in infrastructural projects that could see an overhaul of the city’s road network.

Harare City Town Clerk, Tendai Mahachi today told a visiting trade delegation that the City was looking for business partners to help it achieve world class city status.

“The city’s population is rapidly growing and the infrastructure we have in place can no longer cope,” Mahachi said.

“There are a lot of business opportunities in infrastructure development, waste and water management.”

Head of the delegation, Gerald Wolf said they wanted to play a role in the transformation of the city.

“Harare is in transition, moving onto a new stage and we would want to be part of that journey to implement new and better infrastructure weather its roads or bridges,” Wolf said.

“We are very confident that we may have very quick wins together between Zimbabwe and our business community.”

Wolf said council was now discussing the specific details with the different companies with the first project expected to be concluded in the next month.

“We got the assurance from government that all the processes, licenses and authorization will be very fast so I am pretty confident that we can sign our first agreement by March.”- The Source
