France says it will support inclusion of Gono on EU sanctions

France said it would support the inclusion of central bank governor Gideon Gono on the European sanctions list which would in turn facilitate his inclusion on the United Nations Security Council list.

The European Union was requested by the United States to include Gono because he was not on the EU list but was on the US sanctions list.

The US wanted to table a resolution with the United Nations Security Council calling for sanctions on Zimbabwe which would also allow military intervention in the country.
