Fourth coronavirus patient dies in Zimbabwe

An 82-year-old woman from Mhondoro died of the coronavirus at a private hospital in Harare this morning, Health Minister Obadiah Moyo has confirmed.

She is the fourth person in Zimbabwe to succumb to the pandemic. Two others have recovered while another 23 remain positive.

Zimbabwe extended its 21-day national lockdown by two weeks to 3 May to try to curb the spread of the pandemic.

So far just over 4 000 people have been tested but the government says it intends to test 40 000 by the end of this month, which is only eight days away.
