Zimbabwe today hiked mining exploration fees by almost 2 000 percent to $1 million in a bid to curb speculation. “We have companies and individuals who are holding onto unused mining claims. This will not help the economy. We want mining for development,” deputy Minister of Mines Gift Chimanikire was quoted as saying.
