The Gweru City Council was ordered to reinstate 12 artisans and technicians which it summarily dismissed in June last year after they had gone on strike demanding a scarcity allowance of 20 percent but it immediately lodged an appeal against the ruling putting the matter on hold until a decision by the Supreme Court.
The order had been made by High Court Judge, Justice Muchechetere, in Bulawayo. He had also ordered the council to pay the artisans and technicians remuneration and benefits due to them from June 4, 1990 within 14 days.
