Could the Magaya case land Kasukuwere in hot soup?

Local Government Minister Saviour Kasukuwere, who is a darling of the First Lady, could be in hot soup because of his alleged involvement in selling stands to Prophetic Healing and Deliverance leader Pastor Magaya who is currently facing rape charges.

Magaya has promised to build some 90 000 houses country-wide.

According to The Herald, President Robert Mugabe yesterday confronted Kasukuwere over the stands before the party’s politburo meeting.

“Ko nyaya yevakomana yemastands iri kufamba sei?” Mugabe reportedly asked Kasukuwere. “Ndakanzwa kuti mastands makatengesa, makatengesera ananaMagaya.”

Kasukuwere responded: “No shefu. Vakanga vashaya zvekunyora. There is nothing like that. I am the responsible Minister and hakuna zvakadaro zvakaitika.”

But Mugabe insisted: “No, No, ndiri kunzwa kuti land yakatengeserwa ananaMagaya. Makatengesa, makatengesa!”

It is not yet clear what the implication of this confrontation is but Kasukuwere has long been believed to be the brains behind the G40 faction in the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front whichis propping up the First Lady.
