Coronavirus deaths in Zimbabwe down to two

Zimbabwe today had only two coronavirus deaths but the number of new cases went up to 120 with the seven-day rolling average for new cases increasing from 80 to 84.

Some 206 people recovered resulting in the number of active cases dropping to 2 302.

So far 35 543 people have contracted the virus, 31 821 have recovered and 1 420 have died.

The number of active cases in Harare went up to 874, that for Manicaland stood at 571, Mashonaland West dropped to 225 and Bulawayo to 148.

Zimbabwe rolled out its vaccination programme today with Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga getting the first jab.

Zimbabwe is under a strict lockdown which will be reviewed at the end of this month.
