Coronavirus deaths in Bulawayo continue to rise, now 36

There was one coronavirus death in Bulawayo today raising the toll for the city to 36 and that for the nation to 203.

The country recorded 62 new cases and 20 recoveries.

There are now 6 559 cases, 5 241 recoveries and 1 115 active cases, an increase from yesterday.

Masvingo is now the only province with less than 10 active cases after Mashonaland Central got nine new cases pushing its tally to 18.

South Africa continues to do well with the number of active cases now down to 64 003. The total number of cases has, however, risen to 628 259 and deaths to 14 263.

It is now in sixth place in the world but could soon be overtaken by Colombia which currently has 13 000 fewer cases.

Russia had joined the million cases league.

The top four counties- the United States, Brazil, India and Russia- account for 58 percent of the global cases which now stand at 25.8 million.

They, however, account for 45 percent of the deaths now at 858 000 but 62 percent of the active cases which are about 6.9 million.
