Constitutional Court to decide on Jonathan Moyo’s fate on Wednesday

Zimbabwe’s highest court, the Constitutional Court, will decide on the legality of Higher Education Minister Jonathan Moyo’s arrest by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission on Wednesday morning.

Moyo was arrested by ZACC last year for allegedly abusing Zimbabwe Manpower Development Funds amounting to about $400 000.

He filed an urgent application with the Constitutional Court challenging the legality of his arrest by ZACC.

The arrest has been described by some as political because Moyo belongs to a faction of the Zimbabwe African Union-Patriotic Front that is fighting to thwart Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa from ascending to power insisting that there is only one centre of power, President Robert Mugabe.

Mugabe turns 93 in two weeks and some argue that he is no longer capable of running the country because of his ailing health.

A relatively unknown pastor from Kariba, Philip Mugadza, is appearing before the courts for prophesying that Mugabe will died on 17 October this year.
