Constitutional Court to decide 8 February if Mugabe is fit to continue as president

Zimbabwe’s Constitutional Court is to decide on 8 February whether President Robert Mugabe is fit to continue running the country or not.

He turns 93 on 21 February.

According to News24, the court announced this yesterday following an application by #Tajamuka leader Promise Mkwananzi who says Mugabe should step down because he is too old and has been violating the national constitution.

Mkwananzi said Mugabe is “old and frail and no longer has the agility and concentration to superintend over critical affairs of the state. His incapacity poses a real danger to the stability and security of the country. He must accept his fate and go to rest".

Mugabe has argued that he has a constitutional mandate to fulfill and will serve until the end of his term next year. But his party has already endorsed him as the candidate for the next presidential elections.

A relatively unknown prophet, Patrick Mugadza of Kariba,  has said Mugabe will die on 17 October this year, something that Mugabe has laughed off on several occasions in the paste saying on this he has beaten Jesus Christ because Jesus died and only resurrected once yet he has died and resurrected several times.

IHS Jane’s Intelligence Review said Mugabe might not contest next year’s elections because either he will have died or will be incapacitated.
