The number of people that have died of cholera has risen to 49, the Minister of Health Obadiah Moyo told Parliament today.

Moyo said some 6 645 were reported and most these were from Glen View 8 and Budiriro 1 and Two.

He said 21 percent of those affected were children with the youngest to succumb being only eight months old.

The cholera outbreak was declared on 6 September.

In 2008 more than 4 000 people died of cholera and nearly 100 000 people were affected.
