Chinamasa to present budget on 19 December

Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa will present his long-awaited 2014 budget on Thursday next week, 19th December.

This will necessitate the recalling of Parliament which adjourned last week to 28 January.

The budget is usually presented in November to allow legislators to debate it before passing the Finance Bill to allow the budget to take effect on 1 January.

It is not clear whether legislators will debate the Finance Bill during the 12-day break before the new year.

The delay in announcing the budget has resulted in a lot of speculation including the return of the Zimbabwe dollar which has caused quite a stir.
