Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku today called for free and fair elections due to be held sometime this year. President Robert Mugabe had called for elections in March this year but this is increasingly becoming impossible. The constitution requires that elections be held not later than four months after the end of a presidential term. Mugabe’s term ends on 29 June which means elections should take place before 29 October.
