Chamisa who is expected to testify today tweeted: “The fight for democracy, happiness, justice and peace has over the years brought us attempts on our lives by those with power. That same fight, will earn us more such attempts, if not worse, all designed to eliminate or silence us. We shall overcome! #Godisinit.”
The tweet was accompanied with pictures of the late MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai after he had been beaten up, another of Tsvangirai and Lovemore Madhuku with a bandage head, and a third of Chamisa bleeding after being beaten up.
Chamisa was subpoenaed to testify before the commission following allegations by some witnesses that the violence of 1 August in which six people were killed were sparked by violence by demonstrators sympathetic to the MDC who were demanding their vote claiming that it had been stolen.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission had only released part of the parliamentary results at the time but had up to 4 August to announce the results of the presidential election.
Two people who testified yesterday, Paddington Japajapa and Jim Kunaka exonerated the MDC and blamed the violence on the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front.
The military denied killing anyone though post-mortem reports said the people died from gun-shot wounds.
Chamisa lost the 30 July elections but insists that he won the elections but was cheated by the ZEC and the Constitutional Court which declared Emmerson Mnangagwa the winner.
