Chamisa says there is a ploy to weaken and eliminate MDC

Movement for Democratic Change leader Nelson Chamisa today said there is a ploy to weaken and eliminate his party and there are going to be vindictive arrests and hired witnesses making stories to victimise his party.

In an apparent reference to the open hearings by the Commission of Inquiry into the violence of 1 August in which six people were killed, Chamisa tweeted: “I see the effort to nail the innocent exonerating the guilty. A ploy to weaken and eliminate MDC and faces in the democratic alternative. Was briefed of this strategy 3 months ago. Soon you will see vindictive arrests, hired ‘witnesses’ making stories to victimize.#changemusthappen.”

The military, which has been blamed for the violence, yesterday said its troops did not shoot any of the demonstrators.

Police also said they sought the services of the army after being overwhelmed by the situation and said more lives could have been lost if the military had not intervened.

The MDC leader said: “No weapon fashioned against us shall prosper. The scripture does not say no weapon shall be fashioned. The weapon shall be fashioned but it surely shall not prosper!”

Simba, however, said people had heard all this before.

“Takambozvinzwa izvi. NaGire. Asi munondo wakabaya zvakadaro. Tambai makachenjera komuredhi. Musawanza mavhesi,” he tweeted.

Chamisa responded: “The verses and scriptures define me and us all!”

When told by JoshyTZibs: “U are not saints. MDC is now being led by power hungry people who can do anything just to taste power”, Chamisa responded: “Yes, we are human and not entirely perfect but violence against citizens and spilling of blood are not some of our imperfections. We only carry open palms not even clenched fists. We have our bare arms not arms of terror!”

#ZIM MY HOME said Chamisa was now scared because he incited the people adding: “No way to condemn the soldiers without condemning u,” Chamisa responded: “Not afraid of anything mate. Winners don’t incite. They give insight. Violence and power at all cost is not my type of politics. Before God and before men, I didn’t actually know about the August 1 demonstrators until I received a call alerting me about it! That is a fact!”

Mdhara Mhandu told Chamisa: “In as much as we may sympathise wt u sir, imiwo munodarikidza mwero. Makaisa tweet renyu musi wa 1 Aug muchiti mahwinha ma elections mukazoridzima . Same goes to chalton akaisa tweet achisvevedza vanhu ku harvest kuzopemberera kuhwinha ma elections akazodzima tichiona zvedu.”

Chamisa responded: “Whats wrong with stating a fact. We have went to the constitutional court to assert this reality though with curtailed success.” But he did not respond when Mdhara Mhandu asked: “If there was nothing wrong with ur tweet why then did u delete it latter sir??”
