Chamisa in a fix as ZANU-PF says he must recognise Mnangagwa before any talks

Chamisa’s reaction to Mnangagwa’s offer was: “DON’T BE MISLED BY HEADLINES…There’s no offer from Mnangagwa & no dialogue or contact with him. Our struggle is by & for YOU THE PEOPLE.  Your WILL & wellbeing come first. My role in the struggle is not about perks, position, title or entitlement but to fight for you.#Godisinit.”

Critics said, however, this was more to appease his supporters and to keep pressure on Mnangagwa for more concessions.

But those close to Mnangagwa say, he is not under any pressure at all as he has put the ball in Chamisa’s court because it is now Chamisa who appears not willing to talk continuing to argue that he won the elections despite a ruling by the country’s highest court.

One observer said those who supported Chamisa previously are running out of patience with him.

Chamisa today said his party is ready to take off.

“READY FOR A TAKE OFF -MDC standing committee meets to revitalize, modernize, renew and rally the party to LEAD. We’re integrating with all other alliance partners to be more formidable. Internal democracy, strong institutions, big ideas and smart policies key..#smartleadership,” he tweeted.

Reports, however, say a district official from Gokwe, Elias Mashavira, on Monday filed a court application seeking an extraordinary congress to elect a party leader within 60 days.

Chamisa was appointed by the national executive to lead the party for 12 months which means the party should hold a congress in February next year.
